Christmas is right around the corner, so I thought I’d do the Christmas tag I’ve been seeing a lot of bloggers doing – I’ve really enjoyed reading them all. If you’d like to do it too, just copy and paste the questions and fill them out – let me know and I’ll take a look!
What is your favourite Christmas movie/s?
I can’t choose! I have three and they are all equally nostalgic for me:
- The Muppet Christmas Carol
AMAZING film, I think I actually know all the words. I used to have to hide behind the sofa though when Scrooge shouts at Mr Cratchit – it terrified me! You can see the bit that scared me here.
- Jingle All the Way
My brother and I used to get this out of the video shop (yeah I know, how old are we?) all the time, even when it wasn’t Christmas! It gets better with age as there are so many adult jokes and insinuations you miss as a child. I think Arnold needs to add ‘Turbo Man’ to his Twitter bio, immediately.
- The Wizard of Oz
Because of course…#boxingdayhangover
Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
We have always opened them on Christmas morning. I worked in a German restaurant and it seemed to be the general consensus that Germans open them on Christmas Eve. But, just…no!
Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
I got Sparkly Barbie AND Gymnast Barbie one year – that was an absolute bumper Christmas. We’ve got it on video and I can still remember how happy I was. My brother was also too little to open his presents, so I got to open all his, too! Win.
Favourite festive food?
OBVIOUSLY pigs in blankets. There are NEVER enough. I’m going HAM this year. Heh. Get it? Sorry.
Favourite Christmas gift?
I’ve had so many great presents over the years; I’ve not once been disappointed. I suppose the best present I’ve ever had is my Kindle. I’m such a bloody bookworm and I use it every day – I received it about four years ago now!
Favourite Christmas scent?
The Christmas candles by Yankee Candle are the BEST. I love a candle – cinnamon ones are top of the list.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Now we’re older, the tradition has just turned into getting pissed (!) but we used to leave Santa a mince pie and a carrot for Rudolph every year. We also have always had stockings with the same bits and pieces in them, but it wouldn’t be Christmas otherwise: a satsuma, some sweets, a chocolate Santa, some chocolate coins, a little gift and a pound coin.
What tops your tree?
It has always been an angel. At home we’ve got this MASSIVE golden angel I begged for when I was little – we’ve had her at the top ever since.
As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
I never really wanted anything crazy like a pony, but one year I asked for loads of ‘play home’ stuff from Argos. Things like fake washing machines, ironing boards, and a play kitchen. I have NO idea why; maybe I liked the idea of playing house. I still do. By the way, I never got those things. I think my mum told me to get a life and ask for a Baby Annabel or something normal.
What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
The general atmosphere, the tradition and of course the laughter. You can’t be angry on Christmas! I live away from my family as I stayed in London after uni, so Christmas is a special time.
