Happy Wednesday, lovelies.
I’ve had a fair few questions to my Contact Me box over the last few weeks, so I thought it would be best to get a few things down into one post! You can do it too – just copy the questions and send me the link to yours in the comments below.
I hope you enjoy getting to know me a little better as much as I enjoyed answering the questions! Of course, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask.
1. What is your middle name?
Pretty standard, but pretty nonetheless – Lucy! It was my great nan’s first name – it’s my mum’s middle name as well, and I intend to give it to my daughter too!
2. What was favourite subject at school?
English Language, 100%. I’ve always loved English and am quite good at it too (luckily, because I’m rubbish at maths!). I loved my English Language GCSEs – I did it at A Level too and then went to Kingston University to study English Language and Journalism. Now I’ve got my job in PR and my blog, I get to write creatively and proofread on a daily basis – living the dream!
3. What is your favourite drink?
A chilled prosecco has got to be up there as my favourite alcoholic beverage – especially with a splash of Chambord in it! Non-alcoholic is definitely sparkling water. I’ve always liked it, but since I worked at Stein’s German Restaurant and met my boyfriend (who is also German), that like turned into love – Germans seem to have a real ‘thing’ for Sprüdel. We barely drink tap or still water at home – we only get home delivery on our shopping so the van can bring our massive water order for us! That sounds totally snobby – but it’s only the 16p bottles from Asda, we’re not talking Perrier, here!
4. What is your favourite song at the moment?
Obviously anything Justin Bieber. As a die-hard fan since the beginning, I knew those bloody bandwagoners would come round to my way of thinking eventually…!
5. What is your favourite food?
Always a cheeseburger Happy Meal from McDonald’s. I know some people find McDonald’s absolutely abhorrent, but I don’t think there’s much wrong with it since they’ve bucked their ideas up. I think it’s my favourite because as children, we were only allowed them as a very rare treat – and I still view it that way. It tastes of nostalgia and happiness!
6. What is the last thing you bought?
I bought a Barry M Nail Paint in Raspberry – it’s gorgeous! I need to buy a nail varnish storage unit – I’ve got far too many.
7. Favourite book of all time?
Kate’s Story by Billy Hopkins. I must have read it about 20 times – it never gets boring. I’d recommend all of his semi-autobiographical books, actually.
8. Favourite Perfume?
I think it’s got to be DKNY Be Delicious – I’ve worn this perfume for absolutely years and it’s a great present to receive every Christmas.
9. Favourite Celebration?
I love to make the most of every celebration but my favourite of them all will always be Christmas. I love everything about it, all of the tradition, spending time with family and of course Christmas telly! You can read my 10 Christmas Questions blog here.
10. What is your relationship status?
I will have been with my boyfriend for three years in May. We live together and are currently trying to navigate ourselves through adulthood, which is er… interesting at times. He’s one of the kindest, most polite and thoughtful people I have ever had the pleasure to know.
11. What is your favourite country?
I love the UK and London – I’ve made my home here. However, I have spent a lot of time in Dubai and my heart aches for it sometimes, it’s a brilliant place. You just have to get your head around it, contradictory country that it is! I also love Cyprus as this is where we used to go on holiday as a family when I was younger.
12. Do you speak any other language?
Speaking it is a bit of a stretch, but I could get by on German. I’m surrounded with it a lot and it’s fairly easy to pick up (I much prefer it to French, which I did at GCSE!).
13. How many siblings do you have?
One brother, 21. He’s a policeman now and I will never get bored of calling him PC Plod or The Fat Controller. He’s a good boy. We hated each other growing up – but then we actually grew up and look at us now!
14. Favourite restaurant?
I love Italian food – anywhere that serves a decent pizza, I’m yours. Fun fact: I’ve never ordered a salad as a meal in a restaurant!
15. When was the last time you cried?
I cry at EVERYTHING. It’s ridiculous. Sad times, happy times, emotional adverts on the TV, the way someone says something to me – kind or not so kind, when I’ve done well, when I’m not doing well, when someone else is upset, if I’m happy or upset for someone else, when someone leaves work, at films, books, theatre…the list goes on.
I’m not miserable, just…emotionally in tune (!)
16. Favourite Film?
I love lots of different genres of film and try to watch things out of my comfort zone. However, one of my favourite films is Bicentennial Man, with Robin Williams. It’s a bit long-winded I suppose, but it’s heartwarming and has a happy ending. Good for a Sunday afternoon!
17. Favourite TV shows?
I recently got Netflix and am starting new series all the time! I LOVE Orange is the New Black (returning in June…!). I’ve also enjoyed Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Making a Murderer. I don’t religiously watch TV but I try to keep on top of Eastenders and love a good Channel Four documentary!
18. PC or Mac?
I grew up with PCs, but my first boyfriend had a Mac and it may as well have been an alien computer – I had no idea how to work it! However, I learnt on his, then used Mac at university and then invested in my own Macbook Pro last year. I also use an iMac daily at work. To be honest, I’d find it incredibly difficult to know how to use a PC now!
19. What phone do you have?
iPhone 5c – cannot WAIT to get rid of it, the little shit. I’ll only be getting a new iPhone though…!
20. How tall are you?
A pretty standard 5ft 4. I always imagined myself as taller – wishful thinking though, now!
21. Can you cook?
I can give it a good whack! I’m quite good at homey things like beef stew, spaghetti bolognese, Sunday roasts and a fair few other recipes – all taught to me by my mum! It won’t be Michelin standard and might not look that pretty, but it will taste nice and fill you up – what more could you want? I like trying out new things though and haven’t received any complaints so far!
